Melanie & Martin {engagement session}

I was sooooo excited for Melanie & Martin’s engagement session!  Let’s face it not everyone is willing to freeze on a winter day for photos in the snow!   I was excited to do a winter wonderland session with these two and even more excited when Melanie told me she had some ideas for her session along with props!  PROPS?  UM HECK YES!!!! I love props!!!  I seriously do!  A lot of my couples don’t bring props- but when they do- I just LOVE the extra element it adds to any session!!!!!

I’m a huge fan of pinterest myself and the ideas it can stir to add to a session or a wedding day!  It’s eye candy for me to photograph and elements to help tell a story!  So I was thrilled to see what Melanie all had in mind!

Like any winter session we had to reschedule once for a warmer day- our original day had a Zero degree wind chill and I offered to move the date so they could enjoy the session a little more!  They agreed and the 30 degree day we had instead was much better!  We met at Grant Park at Seven Bridges for their winter engagement session!

I was super excited for the props Melanie & Martin brought and was pumped for this awesome session!

Some of the props were found at one of my favorite spots:  TJMaxx!

aspirations…

Bright lights, cameras, makeup, hair, wardrobe… what girl wouldn’t dream of the lifestyle of a model or actress?

I’ve always been taught to follow your dreams and to dream big. I’ve always been obsessed with hair and make up.  When Cyndi said she wanted hair & makeup I couldn’t help but squeal with excitement for this photoshoot.  She was just as excited to get “glammed out” for this photoshoot.  Hey what girl wouldn’t want to?  For this reason alone I call these photoshoots a “glamour session”.  It’s a chance for you to get “glammed up” for a shoot to look your absolute best.  I have plenty of jewels to choose from too to add to your look.

 I didn’t know Cyndi before this shoot but by the time we were done with hair and makeup I knew this girl was a girl of my heart.  She is full of spirit and dreams! :) Cyndi I admire your love for life, dreams & love!  I know for a fact that whatever your future holds for you it’s going to be fabulous!  Here’s just a few favorites I captured…

Disney inspired shoot…

3 weeks ago I would have NEVER believed how WARM our weather would be here in Wisconsin!  This IS Wisconsin you know (lol don’t ya know dere hey)!  We have weather changes ALL the time- one day Warm – next day snow storm- that’s just how we roll!

Well mother nature is just being soooooo kind to us photographers right now it’s not even funny!  I’m totally ok with it staying warm as long as it wants.

When Katie first asked me to do her maternity pics I was excited, when I realized she loved Pinterest I was really excited, when I realized that she was Obsessed with DISNEY then I was ecstatic!  This girl is gonna be amazing to work with!  We planned out our photoshoot and watched the weather- spotted some days coming up that it was going to be warm!  (high 50’s low 60s) Then we started sharing Pins and ideas together and endless searches of ideas we liked for this photoshoot – which was of course DISNEY THEMED!  I was surprised how much I couldn’t find considering it was disney themed!  We were rolling with ideas but sooo much stuff we couldn’t find!  Party stores were shopped, craft stores searched, disney store scrutinized for the stuff we needed.  :( nothing!  Ok well we found a few treasures we needed and the rest we created!  When me & Katie shared our finds with each other we were laughing and didn’t realize we could both speak “pinterest”.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE a themed shoot and this one was defiantly a fun one to plan!  Can’t wait to meet Jackson who already is going to love Mickey Mouse by inheritance :)
